Alex Suen

MS, LPC, ALPS

Alex Suen is a Licensed Professional Counselor.

She has spent the majority of her career working with adult and elderly populations.

She is licensed in West Virginia

Her primary focus is working with adolescents (18+), adults, and elderly populations. She feels that counseling is open for all regardless of culture, religion, or gender/sexual identity.

Some of her clinical interests include crisis management, depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, borderline personality disorder, and trauma. Other interests include grief, processing loss, stress management, and OCD.

As a clinician, she wants to meet clients where they are when they come through the door. Alex builds her approach from client-centered therapy. Developing rapport and working to create trust in the therapeutic relationship is extremely important to her.

She believes there is no one right way to conduct therapy and that each individual will have a different path to success. Her goal is to help clients find the skills and tools they need to navigate on their own in the their futures.

Alex also draws from other theories such as Rational Emotive Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Feminist Theory, among others that may benefit specific client needs.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys spending time at home with her husband, cats and dog, Leah, Gannon, and River. You will never find her without a glass of iced tea nearby. At home, she enjoys watching maybe a bit too much of any streaming service, but also while doing a variety of crafts, including knitting, cross-stitching, and nail art.
