Kayla’s primary focus is working with adults age 18+.
I am a psychodynamic therapist, and my approach to clients draws from a variety of therapy approaches including psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Polyvagyl Therapy, Inner Child work.
The heart of what I do is providing a space for connection and support. This happens by being a human first, utilizing humor, and transparency.
I feel incredibly grateful to be in this field. I find joy in holding space for folks who have not really had space provided - people pleasers, emotional caretakers, overachievers. Those who were made to feel small in their environments.
Life is hard. Period. My hope is to make it a little less hard by providing a space to talk about it.
Whether you’re feeling anxious, tired, lonely, overwhelmed, burnt out… or your self talk is a constant cycle of “I’m not enough”, “I’m wrong”, “I always say the wrong things” - therapy can be beneficial for you.
This tends to involve addressing the symptoms happening for you right now, while also uncovering past experiences that may have contributed to how you’re feeling.
I particularly enjoy working with those experiencing relationship concerns and difficult family relationships. I also have a special interest in working with women at all stages of life, including pre-and post-motherhood, and all areas in between. I have a passion for working with military, veterans, and those connected. As a combat veteran, I understand aspects of military culture and challenges faced being in or transitioning out of service. I also have person experience with processing adult diagnosis of ADHD.
I know that seeking help can be a daunting process. If you found yourself here, know that you’re not alone, and I would be glad to be a part of your story.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, my toddler, and our Doberman, Roman. My interests include working out, all genres of music, watching movies, and writing (I’ll write that book someday).
