🌿 Unbound by Grace
Who We Are
Unbound by Grace is a community outreach initiative of Unbound Counseling. Our purpose is to expand access to care and support for children, families, and individuals in our community who may not otherwise have the resources to receive services.
Through Unbound by Grace, we offer pro bono services, community events, and resources designed to foster dignity, healing, and belonging.
What Unbound by Grace is not
It is not a faith-based counseling program.
It does not impose spirituality or religious practices on anyone.
It is not a substitute for clinical counseling services.
What Unbound by Grace is
A way for Unbound Counseling to give back to the community.
A space for families and individuals to receive support without barriers.
A demonstration of our commitment to equity, compassion, and inclusivity.
At Unbound Counseling, all of our therapy services remain evidence-based, trauma-informed, and client-centered. Clients always have the choice of whether or not they would like spirituality integrated into their counseling, and it is never assumed.
The Heart Statement
Unbound by Grace exists to restore dignity, healing, and belonging to those who feel unseen, unworthy, or unloved. Through trauma-informed care, compassionate presence, and a commitment to community care, we create safe spaces where stories can be told without shame and identities can be reclaimed.
Unbound by Grace is not a counseling service. It is our way of extending care through pro bono services, community events, and resource sharing—always rooted in equity, compassion, and inclusivity.

🌱 Pathways of Repair
At Unbound by Grace, we believe healing happens when stories are told openly, when pain is acknowledged, and when belonging is restored. We call this sacred repair—the work of rebuilding trust, reclaiming voice, and finding spaces where dignity is honored.
Our approach includes:
Truth-telling: Naming experiences without shame or dismissal
Compassionate presence: Sitting with pain, not rushing past it
Restored connection: Rebuilding safe relationships with self, others, and community
Reframing language: Transforming words that once wounded into words that heal and empower
Unbound by Grace was born from the belief that no one should have to heal alone. In the quiet corners of rural Appalachia, too many carry invisible wounds—trauma, shame, addiction, community or spiritual harm—with nowhere to turn. We saw the gap between professional care and community support, and we stepped in to bridge it. Here, stories are honored, pain is named, and every person is met with dignity and compassion.

Core Beliefs
We believe shame and silence are tools of disconnection—and healing begins with being seen and known.
We believe trauma doesn’t disqualify you; it makes you human—and healing meets you there.
We believe clinical excellence and compassion can coexist, creating safe space for restoration.
We believe healing happens in relationship—with ourselves, with others, and within supportive communities.
We believe no one is too far gone, too messy, or too broken to be valued and loved.

Our Approach: Attachment + Trauma-Informed + Language Matters
We serve those impacted by trauma, addiction, disconnection, shame, and community or spiritual harm. We believe restoration begins with telling the truth about our pain and reclaiming the language that has been used to silence, shame, or exclude.
Drawing on the work of Brené Brown, we know that language matters—naming our experiences gives us power, dismantles shame, and opens the door to connection. Words can wound, but they can also heal when spoken with compassion, clarity, and courage.

We hold space for::
Co-regulation in safe, attuned relationships
Reflection that makes meaning from pain
Renewal that reconnects people to dignity, belonging, and hope
Forward movement toward growth, possibility, and a life aligned with personal valuesDrawing on the work of Brené Brown, we know that language matters—naming our experiences gives us power, dismantles shame, and opens the door to connection. Words can wound, but they can also heal when spoken with compassion, clarity, and courage.
Language Matters
We believe the words we use shape the way we see ourselves, others, and the world. Words can heal or harm. They can silence or set free.
At Unbound by Grace, we choose words that:
Honor dignity
Tell the truth without shame
Invite connection and restoration
Why the Name “Grace”?
We know that language matters. For some in our community, especially those healing from religious trauma, the word grace may carry painful associations. We want to acknowledge that openly and be clear about what we mean when we use it.
For us, grace is not about doctrine or dogma. It is about dignity, compassion, and community care. To us, grace means:
Meeting people with kindness and respect, without conditions
Extending compassion to ourselves and others when life feels heavy
Creating space where every person is valued, seen, and welcomed just as they are
We recognize that for some, repair may include reconnecting with faith; for others, it may mean finding new communities of belonging. Both are honored here.

What We Do
Unbound by Grace exists to walk alongside those who feel unseen, unworthy, or unloved—offering a place where stories are honored, wounds are named, and restoration begins.
We:
Serve individuals and families impacted by trauma, addiction, disconnection, shame, and spiritual or community harm
Provide pro bono support and outreach services
Host community events that bring people together for connection and care
Partner with local organizations to meet practical needs (food drives, family support, resource sharing)
Justice-Oriented & Rural-Responsive
Rooted in rural Appalachia, we reach into the margins to offer hope and care for those often forgotten by systems or worn down by survival. We:
Train and equip families and individuals carrying invisible wounds
Restore voices, reclaim identity, and rewrite harmful narratives
Break cycles of silence and shame through honest dialogue and compassionate presence
